Jithubutu is getting interesting collaborations with other projects. On June 10th, Jithubutu was very lucky to welcome @wondarland_project. Created in Dar es Salaam, the project has been running in several major cities in Tanzania. It consists of 2 hours of artistic mediation workshops through dance and the screening of a short film set in Dar es Salaam, directed and choreographed by Matthieu Nieto.

The dance workshops were conducted by Matthieu Nieto, @matthieurainbow, choreographer, performer, cultural project manager and educator; Frederick Sanga, @babyboy_sanga, versatile dancer and performance artist, and Tidah Tony, @tidahdancer, experienced artist specializing in Krump and other dance styles.

Bracelets Workshop

Last month, Jithubutu organized a 15-hour course to teach how to make simple basin bracelets; the typical ones that he produces and sells to the Maasai tribe.

The goal was to provide some of the young people of Jithubutu with a new skill so that they can now produce the bracelets that Jithubutu will offer to his visitors in exchange for a donation. Jithubutu makes the material available and for each bracelet they produce, they are paid the price of the work done; In this way, they see their efforts rewarded, they collaborate with the center, they realize the usefulness of having new skills and, who knows, maybe it will become something important to them.

Jithubutu will try to make a second part for the most skilled ones, in which they will learn new models to produce, increasing their skills even further.

Small gallery to promote and decorate

Next month, Jithubutu wants to launch a new initiative that consists of inviting its artists to bring their works to display on the walls of Jithubutu. Some have begun to be posted as examples. The idea is to give visibility to the artists’ works, while decorating the classrooms, turning the space into a more creative and welcoming place, and embarking them on this new adventure.

It is also planned in the future to have exhibitions dedicated to one or two talented artists and advertise them so that people come to see them.
