New Spanish classes
We strive to incorporate new activities into programs to make daily lives more enriching.
- New Spanish course: Two weeks ago, we started a new Spanish course for beginners. We had a waiting list of approximately 25 boys and girls. The challenge has been finding the time to offer these young people the classes they need, as the lack of volunteer teachers and the limited availability of the three people who teach Spanish at Jithubutu makes it quite difficult to add new groups to the calendar.
- Intensive classes: To overcome this challenge, we offered intensive classes of 2 hours a day for two weeks to the 18 new students who were available, striving to bring them up to the level of the group that already existed previously. Now, everyone will be able to continue these classes together on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
- Educational Resources: Another way students can learn is through online applications and materials they download or already own. They have a computer available to students, but it is not enough.
Talent Talk
Last Thursday, the outdoor activities coordinator and director of the traditional dance group, @Abantu_Group, gave a talk to the youth of Jithubutu titled “How to use your talent for a livelihood”. He shared his personal experience with them, which led to an interesting discussion that lasted two hours longer than expected.
Workshop on Social Media
In collaboration with @Jacque Mgani, Jithubutu has started a new workshop on Social Media. This program will be carried out in four sessions, one Monday each week, with the possibility of extension. The main topics that will be addressed are:
- What are social networks?
- Different channels (features), audience, format, beta phase.
- Types of content (information, participation, entertainment).
- Share, schedule and cross-post.
